PROCESS -Treatment of individuals always begins with learning to know each other. A basic component of therapy is trust – we must establish a rapport from which to build. This process is quietly in place as we begin to take a full assessment of your life and history. I watch closely for patterns or history that may contribute to your present difficulties.
Therapy always begins where you are at in your present circumstances. No need to be anything but yourself. We will work together to make life better. I realize that coming to therapy is a difficult and brave decision – I admire your courage.
After a full assessment – together we draw up goals for our work. This is called a treatment plan. It helps us budget our time and keep focused on how to do the most good. This is your therapy – your input is vital and valued.
Choosing the right treatment modality is where my training and expertise comes into major play. On each part of your treatment you have vital input. I use both teaching and listening as vital parts of therapy – Seeing something from a different view point often helps, being listened to well helps. Therapy is hard work – but it has rich benefits. |
